Surgery

Castration

Our clinic offers castration procedures for bull calves. While it is recommended to cut or band calves as young as possible, sometimes calves slip through the cracks or have a belly nut needing veterinary intervention. All we need is someone to hold the tail and Dr. Colin Nicholas will do the rest.

Bloat Hole

One of our most common problems in feedlot calves is bloating as they find the feed bunk and waterer. If you are dealing with a chronic bloater there are surgical options to get them off your plate and back in their home pen. We recommend treating and tubing for 24-48 hours, but once they become chronic we are available to help.

Exploratory Surgery

Sometimes our sick cows or calves need surgery to identify and fix the problem. If you have a cow that just ain’t doing right or a calf colicky out of nowhere there are potential surgical options available. Starting with an exam Dr. Colin Nicholas will go through potential treatment and diagnostic options. If surgery is right for you and the patient we will get scrubbing and cutting!
