Vaccinations

Vaccinations are a key tool for your pets health and wellness. Each of the core vaccines offers essential protection against problems common in Alberta. We strongly recommend that each of your pets be boostered once a year to ensure effective protection.

Cat vaccines

  • FRCP - Feline herpes virus, feline calicivirus, and feline panleukopenia. This vaccine protects against the most common respiratory vaccines. These viruses are all very aggressive and cause severe illness in vulernable patients
  • FeLV - Feline leukemia virus. This virus suppresses the immune system making them vulernable to all kinds of bugs. It can also cause a virus induced lymphoma (cancer) in up to 30% of infected cats.
  • Rabies - While rare in Alberta, there are regular confirmed cases. Consistent vaccination is vital since infections in vulerable patients are 100% fatal.

Dog vaccines

  • DAPP - Distemper, adenovirus (herpes), parvovirus, and parainfluenza. This vaccine protects against a variety of nasty viruses that are all very aggressive in vulnerable patients.
  • Bordetella - Commonly referred to as kennel cough this is actually a bad name. This respiratory bug results in respiratory disease in patients that are exposed to other canines with regularity. We say canines since that includes farm dogs coming in contact with coyotes!
  • Rabies - An important note for dogs is that rabies vaccines are required to travel to a large number of US states. If you plan to head south for the summer make sure you are up to date.
